Karnataka: BJP nominates K Narayan to Rajya Sabha

The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party in Karnataka on Tuesday nominated K Narayan, a businessman, for the Bypoll scheduled to be held on December 1.

Bengaluru(Karnataka): The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Karnataka nominated K Narayan, a businessman on Tuesday for the Bypoll scheduled to be held on December 1.

The seat had fallen vacant after Rajya Sabha MP Ashok Gasti From Raichuru succumbed to COVID-19 in Bengaluru in September.

K Narayan, who was born and brought up in Mangaluru belongs to the Devanga community, identified among other backwards-class communities in the state.

He is the Proprietor of Span Print and has also served as Co-convenor of "Nekara Prakoshta" of the Karnataka BJP and Executive Director of Hindu Seva Prathishtana.

K Narayan was born in Mangalore on June 12, 1952, and completed the Primary and College Education in Mangalore. Narayan then moved to Bengaluru seeking a Job.

He established a Printing Press in 1982. He introduced Multi Colour Printing Technology, for the first time in Bengaluru.

K Narayan has an independent printing company 'Span Print', which has been enjoying unprecedented success.

In order to popularise Sanskrit among common people, he started a monthly magazine in Sanskrit Called 'Sambashana Sandesha' which was released by Prof. Rajendra Simhaji, Sar Sanchalak of RSS on Sept 2, 1994.

Ever since then, he has been publishing the Sanskrit magazine for the last 25 years. Around 15,000 copies are being printed without confiding on any advertisement every month, the circulation is not only in India but in more than 20 countries.

K Narayan is actively involved in several cultural, social, and religious activities from the past 40 years.

He has been distributing books to over 400 poor students and also donated RS. 25 lakhs for the construction of Samudhaya Bhavana worth Rs 3 Crore at Mangalore.

BJP High Command Shocks State BJP

Karnataka State BJP had sent the list of Rajysabha Candidates to High Command. It was speculated that actress Khushbu or actor Rajinikanth will contest the Rajya Sabha bypolls from Karnataka. But the BJP High Command announced the name of K Narayan as the Rajyasabha candidate.

After the seat fell vacant after the death of Ashok Gasti, BJP activista and other Ministers had urged the High Command to provide ticket to Gasti's Wife Suma.
