BMTC defies social distancing: 70 passengers made to travel in a bus

The state government here permitted the transportation services of buses with several conditions. But the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC ) officers were recently seen violating these conditions. Following which, the passengers had to travel with a fear of COVID-19 infection.

Bengaluru (Karnataka):Amid the Coronavirus crisis, while the whole nation is talking about maintaining social distance and other precautionary measures to combat the virus, the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) is reportedly not concerned with any of these measures.

After the relaxations announced in lockdown, the state government permitted the transportation services of buses with several conditions like maintaining social distance and a limited number of passengers.

But the BMTC officers were recently seen violating these and allowing more than 70 passengers on the bus.

Following which, the passengers had to travel with a fear of COVID-19 infection.

Previously, the transport minister wrote a letter to the Centre seeking permission to provide precautionary measures for the passengers.

Meanwhile, a passenger from Yelahanka stated that presently there are not even sanitizers provided to the passengers in the bus.
