Bagalkote: Municipal councillor Chandni Nayaka's husband alleged that his wife suffered a miscarriage after she was manhandled during the municipal election.
"MLA and his supporters pushed my pregnant wife when she was going out to vote. She fell down and now she has suffered a miscarriage. We are feeling very sad. We will fight the issue legally," said Nagesh Nayaka.
History of the viral video
A video purportedly showing BJP Terdal MLA Siddu Savadi and his supporters pushing women councillors during the Mahalingapura municipal election had gone viral.
BJP councillors Savita Hurakadli, Chandini Nayaka and Godavari Baat had demanded to party leaders to give them an opportunity to contest in the president and vice-president elections. However, local BJP leaders turned down their demand.
Siddu Savadi was upset on hearing that the women members were planning to vote for the Congress and he attempted to prevent them from voting. He stood at the gate and tried to stop them from entering the polling hall. When Nayaka tried to slip through, he pushed her around.
