A rare Sabarmati Ashram in Gadag in memory of Gandhiji

A Sabarmati Ashram replica has been built to commemorate Mahatma Gandhi's visit to Gadag in 1920. The Ashram has been constructed with the aim of spreading Mahatma's ideals and to evoke feelings of peace, non-violence and equality in society.

Gadag (Karnataka): During India's fight for freedom, Mahatma Gandhi had visited Gadag in the year 1920. The visit will mark its centenary on November 11th. The Sabarmati Ashram in Gadag has been built in memory of centenary year of Gandhiji's visit.

Mahatma Gandhi has visited Gadag on 11-11-1920. Gandhiji's Centenary centenary celebration will be celebrated on Wednesday and the Sabarmati Ashram will be inaugurated at Gadag Rural Development and Panchayat Raj University.

Centenary celebration of Mahatma Gandhi's visit to Gadag as part of the country's independence movement is celebrated.

The beautiful building of the Sabarmati Ashram represents a replica of Mahatma Gandhi's life. It is the second Gandhi Ashram in the state and the first in North Karnataka. The State Rural Development and Panchayat Raj University is based on the principles and ideals of Gandhiji. The aim is to bring about a positive change in rural life with Gandhi's thinking, to instil Gandhi's thinking in young people and to evoke feelings of peace, non-violence and equality in society.

The ashram is built in a rural development Vishwa Vidyalaya campus in the hills of Nagavi. The Ashram is ​​50 feet long and 70 feet wide and was built at a cost of Rs 70 lakh. A statue of Mahatma Gandhi, a National Flag, Kasturba Kuteera and photos showing the life of Gandhi are preserved here. The photographs depicting the life and history of Gandhiji are kept here.
