38 sheep killed in road mishap in Karnataka

The accident occurred when a herd of sheep was run over by a speeding car while they were crossing the road in Karnataka's Belgaum. At least 38 sheep were killed in the accident.

Belgaum: At least 38 sheep were run over by a speeding car at Chikkauligeri village under Bailhongal taluk in Karnataka's Belgaum on Monday.

The accident occurred when Kuringai of Nagalapura village was guiding a herd of sheep on Chikkauligeri main road.

A car driver lost control of the vehicle and rammed into the herd of sheep killing 38 sheep on the spot.

On being informed by locals, Savadatti police reached the spot and assured the shepherd of compensation. Savadatti police have filed a case.

"Efforts are also on to identify the car and nab the driver who fled the spot after hitting the animals," police said.
