Hazaribagh (Jharkhand): Several rural women in Jharkhand's Bokaro and Dhanbad districts are receiving training to drive tractors as part of their farming initiatives.
As many as 46 women from these districts are receiving agricultural farming training along with advanced farming technology at the Demotand Training Center under the aegis of the Department of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Cooperation in Hazaribagh.
These women of rural areas used to stay at home and depending on the head of their family for their every need. But now these women farmers are constantly on the lookout for newer and more efficient ways of cultivating crops, and these women-led initiatives are bringing just that to the table.
For the last 5 days, these women are learning to drive the tractor. Along with this, the women are also started organic farming, hydroponic farming which grows nutritious, premium quality, pesticide-free greens flower farming, animal husbandry, poultry farming, fisheries in their villages.
Speaking to ETV Bharat, Rekha Devi, a farmer said, she is learning to drive a tractor because she wants to ensure her participation in the family. And when she will go to her village after completing her training programme, the men of her village will be surprised to see her driving a tractor.
