Neeraj Sinha appointed as new DGP of Jharkhand

MV Rao, a 1987 batch IPS officer from Andhra Pradesh, has been removed from the post of DGP of Jharkhand. Neeraj Sinha, a 1987 batch IPS officer, is the new DGP of the state.

Ranchi (Jharkhand): The state government has appointed Neeraj Sinha, a 1987 batch IPS officer, as the new DGP of the state. The state government issued a notification in this regard late evening. Neeraj Sinha has been appointed as regular DGP by the state government. On 15 March 2020, the state government appointed MV Rao as the in-charge DGP, but due to technical reasons, the government could not make him the regular DGP. Neeraj Sinha was DG (Jharkhand Armed Police) with the charge of DG (ACB).

Previously Neeraj Sinha was among the top officials in the UPSC panel, but MV Rao was appointed as DGP in-charge by the government in March 2020. MV Rao will now be posted in his original post — DG Homeguard.

MV Rao was born in Guntur of Andhra Pradesh and passed mechanical engineering from REC in Warangal. MV Rao, a 1987 batch IPS officer, has been the SSP of Ranchi twice. He has also been the SP in Gumla and Hazaribagh in Jharkhand. He has also worked in the Anti Corruption Bureau twice. MV Rao has also been a special functionary officer in Police Modernization Camp New Delhi. After returning from there, he was posted in DG Homeguard where he has been working since.
