LS polls: Cong to field Subodh Kant Sahay from Ranchi

Congress is set to field veteran leader Subodh Kant Sahay from Ranchi parliamentary seat for 2019 LS polls. He was a member of the 14th and 15th Lok Sabha of India. Elections in Jharkhand will be held in four phases between April 29 and May 19.

New Delhi:Veteran Congress leader and former Union minister Subodh Kant Sahay, on Wednesday,saidthat he would fight the impending Lok Sabha elections from Ranchi parliamentary constituency in Jharkhand.

"I began my political career from Ranchi, and I am getting a chance to serve it again. I have represented this constituency in Lok Sabha earlier. I was always prepared for this," he said.

Hitting at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Sahay said that Modi was fooling the entire nation. He also alleged chief minister Raghubar Das of being a puppet in the hands of Modi.

"BJP government in the state is as much a failure as it is in the centre. Of all the Naxal-hit areas, Ranchi reports the maximum number of murders. The state government only exists in banners, posters and advertisements," he added.

Meanwhile, unhappy with the seat-sharing formula of the Mahagathbandhan in the state, RJD earlier announced that it would field its candidates in all seats.

This followed after the Mahagathbandhan offered RJD only one seat, Palamu, instead of two (Palamu and Chatra) as demanded by the RJD. It can be mentioned here that Congress is the biggest constituent in the grand alliance.

"Congress will not field any candidate in Palamu. The party has a clear stand about it. But the party will field a candidate from Chatra. Let us see how things turn out to be, but we hope that the issue will be resolved shortly," Sahay said.

Elections in Jharkhand will be held in four phases between April 29 and May 19.
