BJP leader shot dead in Jamshedpur before polling

BJP leader Hopen Hembram shot dead.

Jamshedpur: Some unidentified assailants opened fire at ST front's in-charge of BJP's Ghaghideeh circle, Hopen Hembram, here late on Saturday night.

The sound of firing alerted the villagers who rushed to the spot and informed the cops. A police team reached the spot and took Hembram to a hospital where he was declared brought dead. 

Assailants opened six rounds of fire at Hembram. Prima facie, a land dispute appears to be the reason behind the murder. 

SP (City) Prabhat Kumar informed that two suspects had been arrested and police have launched a hunt to nab all the assailants as soon as possible.

Voting turnout in Jharkhand recorded at 64.50%

Ranchi: Polling has begun in 4 out of 14 constituencies of Jharkhand at 7 am on Sunday in the sixth phase of the seven-phased 2019 Lok Sabha polls. The constituencies undergoing polling are- Giridih, Dhanbad, Jamshedpur and Singhbhum.

In the fourth phase, voting took place in 3 seats of the state, while 4 seats went to poll in the fifth phase. The voting in the remaining 3 seats will be held in the seventh phase on May 19.
