Bokaro: After being taunted for being only a class-10-pass-MLA, Jharkhand education minister Jagarnath Mahto has decided to study further and complete his education. On Monday, the minister got himself admitted to Class 11 in the Devi Mahto Smarak Inter College, Nawadih.
Mahto stood in line with the rest of the children who had come to get admission and chose Arts side for his higher education.
Jharkhand edu minister enrols in class 11. The Minister had passed class 10 in 1995 from Nehru High School, Telo, in the second division after which he discontinued studies. On being asked what prompted the 52-year-old leader to start schooling again, he said besides putting an end to the taunts by the opposition, being physically present in a class will enable him to understand the students' perspective. He will be better equipped to help the learners and form policies for them.
"I will manage my studies, the ministry and will also make time to indulge in farming. I will work 18 hours a day," Mahato told reporters.
The minister added that there's no age limit to study and get oneself educated and that he has signed the order to develop 4,116 schools in the state as model schools.
He also said, to encourage students scholarship will be awarded to toppers so that no student leaves the school due to lack of money.
