Dhanbad (Jharkhand): After ETV Bharat reported about the plight of Sonu Khatoon, a national level archer who was forced to sell vegetables due to financial crunch, a private hospital in Jharkhand's Dhanbad has provided her with a job and also promised to sponsor her.
18-year-old Khatoon, a bronze medal winner in the Under-17 category in the 2011 National Schools Games, was forced to sell vegetables on the streets of Dhanbad to make ends meet.
Subsequently, on June 2, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren's intervention helped Khatoon get Rs 20,000 from Dhanbad Deputy Commissioner Amit Kumar.
Now, after ETV Bharat reported about her plight, the Asian Dwarkadas Jalan Super Specialty Hospital in Dhanbad has offered her a job and has also promised to sponsor her in the future.
Thanking ETV Bharat for bringing her story to light, Khatoon said it was only due to the media that the entire country could know about the difficulties she had to face, which prompted the government to help her out.
