Ranchi:An army jawan, who was hit by a bullet fired from an INSAS rifle at the army camp located in Khel village in Ranchi was admitted to a hospital soon after the incident occurred on Sunday.
The condition of the injured jawan, who was being treated at the hospital, is stated to be critical. The gunfire has pierced and left a deep wound in his head, doctors treating him at the hospital said. It is still unknown if the jawan was shot by someone or inadvertently shot himself. An investigation is on to ascertain the truth.

According to the information received, Jignesh, a soldier of the 44 Regiment, was found blood-soaked and lying in a military truck. His INSAS rifle was also found on the spot. This incident alarmed other officers and soldiers, who rushed to the spot and quickly got the injured jawan admitted to the hospital. The injured jawan is a resident of Tamil Nadu.
The incident has sent a shockwave in the army installation. The colleagues said the jawan looked fit physically and mentally and was on duty like other days. According to preliminary reports, others got alerted after hearing a sudden sound of firing from his INSAS rifle. The bullet fired from the rifle pierced his head leaving him critically injured in a pool of blood. The injured jawan has been operated on by a team of doctors but the bullet has left a deep wound, sources said.
