Gumla:Two-persons mercilessly killed three members of the same family accusing them of practising witchcraft on Saturday night in Jharkhand's Gumla. After killing them, the accused surrendered before the police. Police have also recovered the weapon used for the murder.
Sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Manish Chandra Lal said "the two men who have surrendered before the police are the nephews of the deceased. Police are interrogating both of them to get the truth behind the murder. Such incidents have happened earlier too."
The three deceased were identified as 55-year-old Bandhan Oraon, his wife Somari Devi and their 40-year-old daughter-in-law. It is said that the deceased had a dispute with their two nephews Bipat Oraon and Julu Oraon over witchcraft practices.
According to the information, before the incident, Bandhan Oraon was having food at home after returning from the farm on Saturday evening. Then suddenly both the nephews Bipat Oraon and Julu Oraon barged into their house and attacked Bandhan Oraon and Somari Oraon with an axe. Hearing screams after the attack Bandhan's daughter-in-law Basmani Devi came out of her room but she was also hacked to death.
