Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir police have claimed to have arrested a 26-year-old youth from Lal Chowk in Srinagar on Tuesday and have also recovered two grenades from him.
According to a senior police officer, "Two men were stopped and searched near the city's Mecca Market this afternoon. Two grenades were recovered from their bag during the search."
"Both men (Adil Farooq and Zahid Ahmad Najjar) tried to escape but Adil was caught. Zahid managed to escape," he added.
"Adil worked for a local news agency and hails from Pampore. He also holds a degree in journalism from the Central University of Kashmir. He was earlier arrested in 2019," he added.

"An investigation is underway and further arrests are likely," police said.
The development comes after a grenade attack by suspected militants was reported near the Hari Singh High street in Srinagar today. Sources said the grenade was hurled towards security forces and three civilians were injured.
