Earlier, on March 13, the Academy started the Drama festival and it concluded on World Theatre Day.

During the festival, artists from across the Kashmir valley performed and entertained the audience.

Kashmir's well-known theatre personalities also highlighted the importance of the event and emphasised the need for regular workshops to attract more people towards art.

"Theatre in the Valley has been restricted to the celebration of World Theater Day. There should be regular workshops where young artists can be groomed to better their skill set," said Qazi Faiz, a renowned artist of Kashmir.

Notably, World Theatre Day was first observed in 1961 by the International Theatre Institute (ITI). It is celebrated on March 27 by the ITI centre and the International Theatre Community. Various National and International theatre events are organised on the occasion.
