Srinagar: Amid the tensions and confrontation between India and Pakistan, authorities in the valley have asked workers to paint red-cross signs on rooftops of hospitals and clinics.

Red crosses painted on the roofs of hospitals are supposed to protect the facilities and their patients from the ravages of war. Similar directions have been given to other government hospitals also in the valley, including district and sub-district hospitals.

A day after India destroyed a major Jaish-e-Muhammad terror training camp in the neighbouring country, Pakistan fighter jets on Wednesday violated Indian air space in Nowshera sector of Jammu and Kashmir.

Pakistan shot down two Indian warplanes on Wednesday in the disputed region of Kashmir and captured their pilots, its military said, raising tensions between the nuclear-armed rivals to a level unseen in 20 years.

Tensions escalated in the country after India and Pakistan indulged in accusations and warnings after yesterday's air strike.
