Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir): As the heavy snowfall in Kashmir has led to traffic congestion in most of the areas in the last few days, the traffic department have come up with the proposal of odd-even formula in Srinagar city.

The Srinagar city has witnessed huge traffic jams in the last few days as the snow has not been cleared and remains accumulated on the road, leading to massive roadblocks.

Officials in the traffic department said they have written to the administration in this regard and they are hopeful the odd-even formula is implemented in Srinagar city for 10 days.

Talking with ETV Bharat, traffic officials said that they are awaiting the permission from the authorities for the order. "We are hopeful that we will get permission from the government on this. It is a necessary step to regulate traffic in the city," Srinagar Traffic Police Media Incharge Sheikh Adil said.

He said that before implementing the odd-even formula in the city, they will have to make a plan on how to go about it so that citizens can move around freely.

Kashmir received heavy snowfall last week following which the Srinagar administration had appealed to the public to move out only if it was important. Residents in and around Srinagar have been complaining about not being able to go on about their daily lives due to teh road blockades because of snow accumulation.
