Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir): Security personnel on Saturday launched a cordon and search operation in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district.
According to reports, the operation was launched in Tral's Arigam village after security forces received information about the presence of militants in the area.
This comes a day after a terrorist hideout was busted in Mangnar top of the Union Territory's Poonch district.
In the joint search operation launched by Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police, two AK-47 rifles and four magazines were seized from the hideout.
Earlier on August 6, a Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) sarpanch, Sajad Ahmad Khanday was shot dead by unidentified terrorists outside his residence at Vessu Gazigund area of Kulgam.
The attack came just two days after Arif Ahmad, a sarpanch affiliated to BJP, was critically wounded after suspected militants fired upon him at Akhran Qazigund on August 4. He was shifted to an emergency hospital and is undergoing treatment.
