Srinagar:Kashmir has been reeling under a classic clampdown since August 5 after the modification of Article 370. As a result, Srinagar's Dal Lake and its famous Mughal gardens remain deserted for the 18th consecutive day.

Iconic tourist destinations remain vacant

The JK government had earlier issued a security advisory to tourists asking them to curtail their stay in the valley.

Considering the footfall of tourists in the valley every year, it is inevitable that the state tourism will have an adverse effect along with the ones who make a living out of it.

Srinagar's iconic Dal Lake and other major tourist destinations is a major source of income for local residents there and this lockdown has resulted in a decrease of revenue for vendors who thrive on daily earnings.

Once a spectacular destination for tourists, the city's restaurants and houseboats now wear a deserted look devoid of the usual hustle it used to witness earlier.
