Srinagar (J-K):The ever-bustling 'Sunday Market', which during peak time made it impossible to pass through the road, now wears a deserted look.
The street used to be filled with the fragrance of delicacies being sold to customers, while they bargained for the best price of Kashmere Shawl with the hawkers. But, the fragrance has now gone and so have the hawkers.
The sizzling sound of spices from the masala roti, which was the speciality of Sunday Market, is no longer audible.
The shutdown has impacted the sale of the shopkeepers and vendors badly. Small shops and handcarts of the Sunday Market have been empty since the decision was declared.
It may be recalled that Kashmir was placed under a total clampdown on August 5, hours before Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced in the Rajya Sabha that the special status for the state has been revoked.
