Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir): Security personnel of former Bandipora BJP president Wasim Bari who was shot dead by terrorists on Wednesday were dismissed from service and arrested for 'negligence of duty' under the police act.
"The case has been registered and further investigations are underway. Meanwhile, all the 10 personal security officers (PSOs) deployed for the protection of slain leader have been dismissed from service and arrested as well," Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir range Vijay Kumar said after visiting the site of the incident along with the DIG North Kashmir and SSP Bandipora.
The 10 policemen were deployed for Bari's security but none was kept along by him at the time of the incident. A case is also being registered in this regard.
"Pertinently the deceased was a protected person and 10 policemen were deployed for his security but none was kept along by him at the time of the incident. Police have registered a case in this regard under relevant sections of the law," read a police release.
"Investigation is in progress and officers continue to work to establish the full circumstances of this terror crime besides why he was without any security at the time of the incident. The men deployed for his security are being detained for negligence under police act," it said.
