Srinagar: As restrictions imposed in Kashmir continue to hinder the tourism in the valley, the security forces have now cordoned off Srinagar's old Zero bridge with concertina wires and fences.

According to reports, local residents are unable to use the 154-metre long bridge to cross river Jhelum thereby causing severe connectivity issues.

The Zero bridge, built with traditional architecture connects Rajbagh and Sonwar region in Srinagar.

Reconstructed in 2012, the historic bridge only allows pedestrian movements and paramilitary bunkers are constructed on both sides with the beginning of the separatist movement in late 1980's.

Restrictions on the movement or assembly of people have been lifted from most areas of the valley, but security forces continued to be deployed to maintain law and order.

While landlines across the valley were functional, voice calls on mobile devices were working only in Kupwara and Handwara districts of north Kashmir.

The officials said some areas in Srinagar witnessed an increased movement of private transport, while few autorickshaws were also seen plying in some areas of the city.

However, normal life remained severely affected across the valley due to shutdown.
