Policeman shot dead in Srinagar

A policeman was killed on Wednesday after suspected militants fired at him in the Saidapora Eidgah area of Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir. The policeman has been identified as Javaid Ahmad, a resident of Srinagar.

Srinagar: A policeman was killed on Wednesday after suspected militants fired at him in the Saidapora Eidgah area of Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir. The policeman has been identified as Javaid Ahmad, a resident of Srinagar.

According to sources, Javaid Ahmed was posted as the security guard of a high court judge. The cop was shot near his residence which left him injured. He was rushed to a hospital where he was declared brought dead on arrival. As per initial reports, Javaid had received a bullet injury in the neck.

On June 12, two policemen and three civilians lost their lives in a terrorist attack in Sopore. Three Let militants had fired at the police party and ambushed the policemen at the main market. the three LeT terrorists have been identified and the security forces on June 14 put out 'wanted' posters of 'three Lashkar-e-Toiba militants in the Sopore town. Policemen and BJP workers are repeatedly being targeted by the terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir.
