Peace not possible in Kashmir until issues get resolved: Mehbooba Mufti

Addressing a public meeting in Budgam, former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Mehbooba Mufti said that the only way of restoring peace in the valley by resolving issues of Kashmir.

Budgam: People’s Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti said on Sunday that if India and Pakistan want peace in the region, the only way to achieve that is through the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

Addressing a public meeting in Budgam, the former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir said that everybody wants peace to be restored between the two countries as Kashmir is lagging behind due to differences between India and Pakistan.

She further said that both the countries should keep the dignity and identity of the Kashmiri people in mind while they talk for people.

"If the Kashmir issue is not resolved, there cannot be any peace in the region," she said.

She added, "The special status of Jammu and Kashmir should be restored at the earliest."
