Pakistan shells 3 sectors along LoC in Poonch

The Pakistan Army again violated the ceasefire by firing and shelling with mortars along the LoC in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir. Indian troops effectively retaliated.

Jammu (Jammu and Kashmir): The Pakistan Army heavily shelled forward posts and hamlets on Wednesday in three sectors along the LoC in Poonch districts of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said.

The Indian Army effectively retaliated.

"At about 0915 hours, Pakistan Army initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation by firing with small arms & shelling with mortars along LoC in Kirni, Shahpur and Qasba sectors in district Poonch", a defence spokesman said.

The Pakistan Army has violated the ceasefire 13 times this month.

On October 1, an Army jawan was killed and another injured, when Pakistan shelled areas along the LoC in Krishnagati area of Poonch district, officials said.

Earlier, on November 10, Pakistan Army heavily targeted forward posts and hamlets on Tuesday by opening fire and shelling three sectors along the LoC in Poonch districts of Jammu and Kashmir.

The officials said that the Indian Army effectively retaliated.

At about 1030 hours, Pakistan Army initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation by firing with small arms & shelling with mortars along LoC in Shahpur, Kirni and Qasba sectors in district Poonch.

Similarly, Pakistan on Tuesday violated ceasefire by firing with small arms and shelling with mortars along the Line of Control (LoC) in Shahpur, Kirni and Qasba sectors in the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said.

The ceasefire violation took place at 10.30 am.

Earlier on November 7, Pakistan violated ceasefire on the Line of Control (LoC) in another sector of Poonch. Since the beginning of this year, 24 civilians have been killed and over 100 have been injured in more than 3,200 ceasefire violations by Pakistan along the LoC.

Frequent shelling from across the LoC has resulted in insurmountable misery for thousands of residents living in the border villages along the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir.
