No candidate prevented from campaigning: Election commissioner KK Sharma

Amid allegations of obstruction in campaigning by PAGD, the Jammu and Kashmir state election Commissioner KK Sharma has said that all preparations for the upcoming DDC polls have been finalized. He further said that security arrangements won't stop anyone from campaigning

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir state election Commissioner KK Sharma on Monday said that all the arrangements for the conduct of the maiden DDC elections in Jammu and Kashmir have been completed.

While addressing a press conference here, he said that from the security of the candidates to the voting and the counting of votes all the arrangements have been finalised.

While talking about complaints of the PAGD, he said that under security arrangements no candidate has been stopped from campaigning.

"If we receive any such complaint from anywhere the election Commission would take action."

He further said that there are two types of candidates in Kashmir, one who already come under security cover and the other group who are first time into the fray.

"The security is important for both of these groups. Security arrangements won't stop anyone from campaigning."

Speaking on the arrangements, he said that this time administration has been asked to be ready to deal with any situation.
