Srinagar: National Conference president and Member of Parliament Dr Farooq Abdullah on Tuesday claimed that his party would win a majority in the next Assembly elections and form a government.

"Whenever Assembly elections are held in Jammu and Kashmir, the National Conference will form the government with a majority. You see, I am saying this with responsibility. The National Conference is the largest party in Jammu and Kashmir."

"The pandemic has affected welfare, development and employment opportunities in Jammu and Kashmir," he added.

Referring to the restoration of Article 370, he said, "You can see for yourself whether the situation here has improved since the abrogation of Article 370 or deteriorated. I will not talk much about it. If I say anything, they (BJP) will say that I am in the opposition, and that's why I am criticizing them. Therefore, the people should decide for themselves what has changed."

He also spoke about the impact of the Taliban in Afghanistan on the whole world. "The impact of Taliban will definitely affect development work in Afghanistan. Our neighbours are tensed. I don't know which will be affected most. Pakistan, China, Bhutan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, the Maldives and Russia are our neighbours. I can't say if the United States will be more affected, but yes, the situation in Afghanistan will impact the whole world."
