Srinagar: The Inspector General of Police (Kashmir) Vijay Kumar on Monday said that the mobile internet will be restored in the Valley today.
"Except for Budgam and Srinagar, the mobile internet service will be restored after 7 pm in all districts of the Kashmir valley," Kumar said. He further said that the call to restore mobile internet in Budgam and Srinagar will be taken after a security review on Tuesday.
After the death of senior Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani on the night of September 1, the Jammu and Kashmir administration imposed strict restrictions across the valley. Internet and phone service was also snapped. However, fixed-line internet and calling services were restored on Friday evening.
Yesterday the restrictions in many parts of the valley were partially lifted but today many parts again saw the strict restrictions. Paramilitary personnel and police have been deployed in many parts of the valley. And the residence of Syed Ali Geelani continues to be under security surveillance.
In Budgam CRPF is checking everyone, be it people in vehicles or the ones walking on the road. No one is allowed to ply on the roads except people with emergencies.
