J&K: Man who snatched CRPF officer's rifle 'brought back' after family intervenes

A man who snatched the weapon of a CRPF officer and ran away from the spot in south Kashmir's Pulwama district on Sunday was "brought back" by the efforts of his family, J&K police said.

Srinagar:Jammu and Kashmir Police Sunday said that the youth who had snatched a rifle from a CRPF officer in Pulwama was "brought back" with the help of his family. Additional Director General of Police Kashmir Zone, Vijay Kumar said that the 25-year-old youth who snatched the rifle from the CRPF officer in South Kashmir's Pulwama earlier in the day was "brought back" with the assistance of his family.

In a tweet, Kashmir Zone Police while quoting ADGP Kashmir wrote, "With the assistance of family, Police brought back Irfan Bashir Ganie aged about 25 years, S/o Bashir Ahmad R/o Below Pulwama along with AK-47 rifle which he snatched from CRPF personnel today morning. Investigation going on. We appreciate the role of family."

Earlier on Sunday, the man had snatched the weapon of a CRPF officer in the Belo area of south Kashmir's Pulwama district and fled. The army, acting seriously, cordoned off the entire area immediately. According to army resources, CRPF 183 battalion was on patrolling duty at Pulwama when Irfan snatched the weapon of ASI Baleer and ran away from the spot.
