Jammu:The government restored 2G Internet service in Kashmir after nearly six months last week. However, it blacklisted social media and some other website and only allowed access to 301 websites.

However, despite the ban on social networking sites, Kashmiris managed to bypass the ban on social media sites by using VPN.

Kashmiris are now using VPN, a virtual private network, to reach social networking sites. It helps in accessing blocked websites and services.

According to recent research, it has been found that mobile companies spend a lot of money on data privacy, but VPNs fail to protect consumers' data.

Imran, who works at Telecom, told ETV Bharat that the data contained in the VPN users' mobile phone is not securely stored while using a VPN, your data may also be leaked. When you do Internet banking, your account is not secure, he explained.

The BJP government revoked Article 370, nullified Article 35-A of the Indian Constitution on August 5, 2019, and snapped all communication channels.
