Kashmir to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr tomorrow

Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated across the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir tomorrow on May 24. The announcement was made after the sighting of the moon was confirmed by the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee of Pakistan.

Srinagar:The auspicious festival of Eid-ul-Fitr shall be celebrated in the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday.

Although no evidence of the moon sighting was received from Delhi after which it was decided that Eid-ul-Fitr would be celebrated on Monday, the sighting of the moon has been confirmed by the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee of Pakistan. It was announced in the mosques of each area that Eid-ul-Fitr would be celebrated in the valley tomorrow.

Darul Uloom Deoband, the largest institution of the Deobandi school of thought, has issued an important fatwa in view of the ongoing lockdown across the country due to the coronavirus and has clearly instructed Muslims to offer Eid prayers at their homes.

If for some reason the Eid prayers do not come to fruition, they should not be upset, they will be forgiven for the Eid prayers due to compulsion. However, those who can not offer Eid prayers.

It would be better for them to arrange Chasht prayers (Nimaz-e-Chasht) consisting of two or four rak'ats in their homes.
