Srinagar: Heavy snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir over the last four days has cut off parts of the Union Territory, particularly the Kashmir Valley from the rest of the country. All flights to and from Kashmir are cancelled since Sunday.
All highways including the Mughal road continued to be closed due to heavy snowfall in the valley for the fourth consecutive day, whereas all inter-district roads are either closed or have become very slippery for vehicles to commute.
According to the officials, snow clearance is underway, especially near hospitals and other important places with more than 200 snow clearance machines being deployed across the valley for the job. However, incessant heavy snowfall is making the clearance difficult.
The areas of north Kashmir, which had received comparatively less snowfall on the first two days of the snow spell have recorded a moderate to heavy snowfall till Wednesday morning, affecting the movement of traffic on key roads.
