Meet the girl behind the calendar showcasing seasons of Kashmir

Ghazal Qadri, a young illustrator from Barzulla area of Srinagar, who became famous after the popularity of her Kath Bath WhatsApp stickers, has come up with a calendar on seasons of Kashmir.

Srinagar:After the popularity of Kath Bath WhatsApp stickers, Ghazal Qadri has done it again by coming up with a calendar on seasons of Kashmir.

This calendar features six seasons of Kashmir Valley, namely: Sunth, Grisham, Vahrat, Harud, Vanda and Shishur.

Ghazal Qadri is a young illustrator from Barzulla area of Srinagar.

She is currently pursuing higher studies in the United States after graduating from the National Institute of Fashion Technology, Hyderabad. Her early education is from Mallinson girls high school in Srinagar and Maharani Gayatri Devi girls school, Jaipur.

She always had a penchant for drawing. However, she did not know that she would go on to make it her career.

Like many others, she also wanted to become a doctor or an engineer. However, after passing class 10th examination, she decided to be an illustrator and joined MGD, Jaipur so that she can dedicate ample time to shape up her dreams.

Ghazal decided to pursue her higher studies in design from Hyderabad, where she not only succeeded but also widened her network.

According to Ghazal, she worked in several private companies which added to her experience and knowledge.

Eventually, she left her job and went to the United States to study illustration.

Ghazal has always been fond of making interesting things out of scrap which she continues.

No matter what, her family has always stood by her whether it's taking up commerce stream after 10th grade or quitting her job and going to the United States for higher education.

While talking about the calendar for she said, "I made a calendar last year too, but it had a different theme and that calendar was also very popular."

Ghazal said she drew her inspiration for the calendar from the book, The Valley of Kashmir, which was gifted to her by her father.

"In that book, the seasons of Kashmir are mentioned in detail. This calendar was inspired by that book."

She said she wanted people to feel like they were in the moment as soon as they turned the page of the calendar.

"I consulted my friends and relatives and tried to find out how people feel in these seasons. I put them all together and made an illustration and finally shaped them into a calendar."

Ghazal who is away from Kashmir Valley for a decade now wants to work with local artists to further promote Kashmiri culture and planning to return next year.
