Srinagar:With no internet and mobile services in Kashmir for over 40 days now, residents in the valley have given up hope of using mobile phones as the clampdown on communication continues in the valley.
Even though landline phones have been restored early this month, mobile services and internet - on any platform - remain snapped. Harried journalists are also now demanding that the government should at least restore broadband connections of media houses.
Speaking to ETV Bharat, a local resident claimed that its difficult to know about happening in the state as well as in the country as the connections stand affected.
Kashmir enters Day 41 with restrictions on internet, mobile services still intact "We are cut off from the world. The government cites law and order situation and militant threats to continue the shutdown. Now we hope to use our cell phones in 2020," he said.
Further, he went on to claim that landlines are used mainly for business purposes and restoring them will not do any favours as majority of the population has already shifted to mobile services from Landlines.
Restrictions on the movement or assembly of people have been lifted from most areas of the valley, but security forces continued to be deployed to maintain law and order.
