Bandipora: In a first of its kind incident, doctors at Bandipora District Hospital in north Kashmir performed an emergency surgery of a pregnant woman without waiting for the reports of COVID-19 test.
The results of the lady, however, later came to be positive.
Hailing from Takia Ahmad Shah area of Bandipora, the woman was brought to the hospital in severe labour pain, and it was difficult to move her to Srinagar, doctors said.
Doctors save life of COVID positive pregnant woman The doctors had to wait for two hours for her test reports. However, seeing her condition, the doctors performed emergency surgery.
Following the delivery, the woman along with her baby and other staff present in the operation theatre was shifted to the nearby quarantine center. Both the baby as well as mother are stable.
In addition, the operation theatre was closed down immediately and the entire hospital was sanitised.
