Jammu and Kashmir: Security forces recover drone dropped arms, ammunition from Akhnoor

Security forces in Jammu have recovered a huge cache of drone dropped arms and ammunition from across the border for the use of the militants in Akhnoor border area. The seized material includes two AK-47 assault rifles, three AK magazines, 90 rounds of live 7.62 mm ammunition and one-star pistol.

Jammu: Security forces on Tuesday have recovered a large cache of drone dropped arms and ammunition in Akhnoor border area of Jammu and Kashmir's Jammu district.

Police sources said that local police and the Army recovered two AK-47 assault rifles, three AK magazines, 90 rounds of live 7.62 mm ammunition and one-star pistol.

"The cache of arms and ammunition was recovered from Neiwala Khad area of Akhnoor. These were drone dropped from across the border for the use of the militants", sources said.

The drone dropping of arms and ammunition from across the border is a new phenomenon which is being adopted by handlers of militancy.

Security forces attribute this to the depletion of weapons among the militants still operating in Jammu and Kashmir.
