Uri (Jammu-Kashmir):A search operation launched by the Army along the Line of Control in the Uri sector will continue on Wednesday, a senior police official has confirmed. The search operation had entered the third day on Tuesday with a soldier receiving injuries in the ‘initial contact’, officials said.
Army search operation in Uri to continue A defence spokesperson said that the area under search has been fortified as more reinforcements have been called into the site. “One of our soldiers received minor injuries in the initial contact”, he said adding that he is however is stable and responding well to the treatment.
A close vigil is being maintained over the area to thwart the infiltration bid, he further said.
Meanwhile, the mobile and internet services in the Uri tehsil of Baramulla district were resumed on Tuesday evening.
Mobile services were suspended by authorities on Monday afternoon nearly two days after the army reportedly said to have intercepted a ‘heavily-armed group of militants’, attempting infiltration along the Line of Control in Uri sector. The combing operation was launched on the intervening night of September 18-19
The area where the suspicious movement was observed falls near Gohalan, the same area from where the attack on Uri Brigade was launched by terrorists in September 2016.
