Police raids residences of four journos in Srinagar

Raids were conducted at residences of journalists including Hilal Mir, Showkat Motta, Azhar Qadri and Shah Abbas. Police said the raids were in connection with an FIR filed in 'Kashmirfight.wordpress.com' blog case in 2020.

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir police conducted raids at residences of four senior journalists in Srinagar on Wednesday. The four journalists include Hilal Mir, Showkat Motta, Azhar Qadri and Shah Abbas.

A senior police official, who was part of the raids, told ETV Bharat that the raids were in connection with an FIR filed in 'Kashmirfight.wordpress.com' blog case in Srinagar in 2020. An FIR number 82/2020 under Section 13 of Unlawful Activities Prevention Act, Section 506 of Indian Penal Code was filed in October 2020, said the official.

However, further details were not revealed by police. Sources said the laptops, cheque books and mobile phones of some among the four journalists were seized by police during the raids.
