Jammu and Kashmir HC seeks report on Srinagar airport upgradation

Jammu and Kashmir High Court has sought a report on the upgrade of Srinagar Airport from the Government of Jammu and Kashmir and the Indian Air Force, to be submitted by October 12. The court had taken Suo Moto cognizance of the difficulties faced by the passengers while travelling from Srinagar Airport.

Srinagar:Hearing a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) under Sumoto on all the difficulties faced by the passengers while travelling from Srinagar Airport, Chief Justice Geeta Mittal and Justice Puneet Gupta have directed the Government of Jammu and Kashmir and the Indian Air Force to submit a report on the upgrade of Srinagar Airport by October 12.

The court also directed the lawyer of the Airport Authority of India to explain to the court the details of the action taken so far in connection with the Srinagar airport operation.

It may be recalled that in 2016, the Jammu and Kashmir High Court had registered the Sumoto case in view of the difficulties faced by passengers at Srinagar Airport. The court then sought details of the steps taken by the Airport of India and other concerned departments to provide facilities to the passengers.
