Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir): Four days after five militants were killed during an abortive infiltration bid in the district, security forces on Monday claimed to have foiled another infiltration bid in the Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir by killing one unidentified terrorist.
In a statement on X, formerly known as Twitter, a spokesperson for the Kashmir Zone Police wrote, “In a joint operation that commenced yesterday, Army and Kupwara Police have successfully foiled an infiltration attempt in Jumagund area of Keran sector in which one terrorist has been killed. Search operation continues”.
Officials said that the joint search operation was launched on Oct 29 Sunday following specific intelligence inputs about the presence of militants in the Jumagund area of frontier district Kupwara. The identity of the slain militant was not immediately known. Significantly, the killing of the militant during an infiltration bid comes four days after the security forces said that they shot dead five militants of the Lashkar e Toiba militant outfit after foiling an infiltration bid along the Line of Control in the frontier district of Kupwara in north Kashmir.
