Rajouri (Jammu and Kashmir): At least one militant has been gunned down in an ongoing encounter in the Karhama Kunzer area of Baramulla, officials said on Saturday. Kashmir Zone Police said the terrorist was linked with the proscribed terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). The slain terrorist has been identified as Abid Wani hailing from Kulgam. The police said that incriminating materials, including an AK 47 rifle, were recovered from the terrorist.
Meanwhile, One terrorist was killed, and another was injured in an encounter that broke out between security forces and terrorists in Rajouri's Kandi forest where contact with terrorists has been established, said the Defence PRO Jammu. The exchange of fire began when a joint team of Police and army had launched a nocturnal cordon and search operation in Karhama Kunzer in Baramulla.
In a tweet, Kashmir Zone Police said, "#Encounter has started at Karhama Kunzer area of #Baramulla. Police and security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow. @JmuKmrPolice." A total of five soldiers lost their lives in the ongoing anti-terror operation in the Kandi area of Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri, officials had said on Friday.
