Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police said on Sunday that two militants belonging to Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) were killed in an encounter in the Devsar area of Kulgam district in Kashmir. The encounter in south Kashmir district broke out after security forces launched a cordon and search operation there following inputs about the presence of terrorists, a police official said. Two were killed in the ensuing exchange of fire, the official said.

An encounter is underway between security forces and terrorists at Cheyan, Devsar area of Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam, said the police.
"Both the trapped militants killed. Incriminating materials including arms & ammunition recovered," Kashmir Police tweeted from its official handle.
Another tweet from the official handle said that the two included Haider, who was active in north Kashmir for more than two years and was involved in several terror crimes. The other terrorist killed has been identified as Shahbaz Shah of Kulgam, who was involved in the killing of a civilian named belonging to a minority community.
