Srinagar:Peoples' Democratic Party president and former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mehbooba Mufti Wednesday claimed she has been “put under house arrest again” as she had planned to visit Tral in south Kashmir to "express solidarity" with a family who alleged that the army beat them up.

“Locked up in my house today yet again for attempting to visit the village in Tral allegedly ransacked by the army. This is the real picture of Kashmir that visiting dignitaries must be shown instead of GOIs sanitised & guided picnic tours,” Mufti tweeted, with a photo of a police van blocking the gate.

A family at Tral in Pulwama district on Monday alleged that a local army unit entered their house and thrashed the members. The video of the family has gone viral. However, the army is yet to issue any statement on the incident.

Mehbooba, too, had Tuesday tweeted about the incident.

“Army from Yagwani camp in Tral ransacked homes & ruthlessly thrashed a family last night. The daughter owing to her serious injuries was admitted to hospital. Not the first time that civilians from this village have been beaten up by the army in this area," she had said.
