Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir): PDP president Mehbooba Mufti Mehbooba Mufti addressed a press conference in Srinagar. She accused the BJP of attempting to muzzle dissent and attacked the centre over not allowing PAGD candidates to campaign.
After we decided to participate in the DDC Election, the degree of oppression has increased in Jammu & Kashmir. Candidates of PAGD are confined and are not allowed to go out for campaigning. How candidates will contest if they are not allowed to canvass, asked Mufti.
"I think BJP wants to develop an ecosystem of itself where there is no place for democracy," said Mufti adding that Roshni was a scheme but it has been made a scam.
BJP trying to get me: PDP president Mehbooba Mufti's She said that the BJP considered everyone in the opposition as anti-national. "They call Muslims as 'Pakistani', Sardars as 'Khalistani', activists as 'Urban Naxal' & students as members of 'Tukde Tukde gang' & 'anti-national'. I fail to understand if everyone is terrorist & anti-national, then who is 'Hindustani' in this country? Only BJP workers?" asked Mufti.
Touching upon the Kashmir problem Mufti said, "Until & unless the Kashmir issue is resolved, the problem will remain and persist. As long as they do not reinstate Article 370 the issue won't be resolved. Ministers will come and go. Simply conducting elections is no solution to the problem."
Venting her anger against the centre Mufti said, "They are trying to get to me. They want to ban my party. Because I raise my voice. I am repeatedly told that Article 370 is being talked about since my release. But what can I do about that?"
