Srinagar(J&K): Srinagar(J&K): One militant affiliated to Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) outfit and a Jammu and Kashmir police personnel were killed while three Army soldiers and two civilians were injured in an ongoing gunfight that broke out late Wednesday evening at Pariwan village of south Kashmir's Kulgam district, officials said.
"One militant has been killed. Unfortunately, one of our personnel SgCT Rohit Kumar Chib lost his life during the initial exchange of fire between militants and security forces," Inspector General of Police (Kashmir Zone) Vijay Kumar, said.
"Three soldiers of Army's 34 RR have also been injured along with two civilians. All the injured have been evacuated to the nearest medical facility for treatment. All are stable. The gunfight is presently underway, more details will be shared once the operation concludes," he added.
Earlier, a joint team of Police, Army's 34 RR and CRPF's 18 Bn based on the credible inputs launched a cordon and search operation in the area.
