Gupkar Alliance to issue key statement today

People's Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) will issue a statement today following the meeting that was held at the residence of National Conference President Farooq Abdullah in Srinagar on Sunday, spokesman for the alliance Yousuf Tarigami said.

Srinagar (Jammu Kashmir): People's Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) will issue a statement today following a meeting that was held at the residence of National Conference President Farooq Abdullah in Srinagar on Sunday, spokesman for the alliance Yousuf Tarigami said.

The meeting was chaired by Farooq Abdullah and attended by PDP President Mehbooba Mufti, National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah, National Conference MP Hasnain Masoodi, Jammu and Kashmir People's Movement President Javed Mustafa Mir and Tarigami.

Sources said the leaders discussed the all-party meeting with Prime Minister Modi on June 24 and reiterated their commitment to restore the status of Jammu and Kashmir as it was on August 4, 2019. This is the first meeting of the alliance after the discussion with PM Modi.

The meeting was earlier to be held on June 29 but was postponed because of some engagement of the alliance's Vice-Chairperson and PDP president Mehbooba Mufti. The meeting took place two days before the visit of the delimitation commission.

The special status of Jammu and Kashmir was revoked on August 5, 2019 and the state was divided into two centrally administered territories.
