An unidentified militant was killed in an encounter with security forces in the Chandaji area of Bandipora on Tuesday.

Srinagar: An unidentified militant was killed in an encounter with security forces in the Chandaji area of Bandipora on Tuesday. Kashmir Zone Police in a tweet said, "Bandipora Encounter Update: one unidentified terrorist killed. Search going on. Further details shall follow."

An encounter broke out between security forces and militants in Bandipora district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday morning. "A joint team of security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Chandaji area of Bandipora in north Kashmir after specific inputs were received about the presence of militants there. As the team approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, which was retaliated, triggering a gunfight," a senior police official said.
