Pulwama (Jammu and Kashmir): Three Al-Badr militants were killed in a gunfight with security forces in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday.
A joint team of security forces of Police, Army's 55 RR and CRPF had launched the operation early morning today in Tiken village of the district.
"The militants - once they were holed up - were asked to surrender; however, they refused," Inspector General of Police (Kashmir) Vijay Kumar told ETV Bharat over the phone.
The operation turned into a gunfight after militants opened fire and security forces retaliated, he added.
Confirming the killing of militants, the IGP said, "All the three local militants affiliated with Al-Badr outfit have been killed.
A civilian was also injured during the exchange of firing. He was immediately evacuated to a nearby hospital for treatment where his condition is said to be stable."
Earlier in on November 19, four terrorists were neutralised in an encounter with the security forces in Nagrota.
As per the sources, these terrorists were from the United Nations-designated terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM).
"These terrorists used old modus operandi and had recently infiltrated the Indian side. An investigation is underway," they added.
