Srinagar:An encounter broke out between security forces and militants in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday and it is underway, police said. However, no reports of injuries or casualties have been there so far.
"Encounter has started in Larrow-Parigam area of #Pulwama. Police & Security Forces are on the job. Details shall follow," Kashmir Zone Police said on X (formerly Twitter). There were no reports of any casualty on either side. A large force of the Police and Security Agencies has been mobilised at the encounter spot. Further details are awaited.

In May this year, in one of the encounters, a militant was killed in Baramulla while the exchange of fire in Kandi forest in Rajouri claimed lives of five Army men. The repeated encounters between the terrorists and security forces are continuing unabated in Jammu and Kashmir. In May itself, the militants opened fire at the Indian security forces in Anantnag amid the G20 meeting.
In August this year, an encounter broke out in Gundha-Khawas village in the Budhal area of the Rajouri district in which a militant was killed. It was termed a joint operation by the police and security forces based on intelligence inputs. (with inputs from agencies)
