Srinagar: The Public Safety Act (PSA) against Doctor-turned-bureaucrat-turned-politician Shah Faesal was extended by three months on Wednesday, officials said.

"PSA on Faesal has been extended by three months today evening. The family has been informed about the development, " a senior official of JK Home department told ETV Bharat.

He further said, "there has been no update in the clause and points mentioned in his previous dossier. The only new thing is the term has been extended."

Shah Faesal's wife Iram Rashid too confirmed the development in her husband's case saying, "She is yet to receive a copy but has been informed on the phone by Srinagar District Magistrate.

This comes hours before his present term under the PSA was to expire.

Faesal was detained in August last year after BJP-led Central government abrogated Article 370 and was booked under PSA on February 14 after spending six months in detention.

Earlier, the Jammu and Kashmir administration extended the detention of Mehbooba Mufti, Naeem Akther, Sartaj Madni and Ali Muhammad Sagar.

Several mainstream leaders including Peoples' Conference chairman Sajad Lone were put under house detention after they were released from MLA hostel in February this year.
